A silent film investigating a small metal object that I have carried with me to every place I've lived over the last 12 years. The film plays out two narratives in video and text. The video presents my left hand carrying out a series of movements with the steel object as a way of trying to understand it. Text frequently interrupts the video in the manner of a silent film that recounts the story of my relationship to the object and the peculiarities of the individual who gave it to me. The film references Yvonne Rainer's, "Hand Movie" (1966) and Richard Serra's "Hand Catching Lead" (1968) but adds narrative back into the minimalist gesture.
